Makigiaqta is requesting proposals from organizations for programs linked to expanding employment and economic opportunities for Nunavut Inuit. Contribution amount, up to a max for $250,000 for 1 year Must be consistent with Makigiaqta’s Strategic Prioirty either 1-4 Eligible organizations include Non-profit organizations in Nunavut in good-standing with Nunavut Legal Registries or Canada’s Not-For-Profit Corporation registry For-profit organizations that are licensed and registered as a business in Nunavut Organizations that servce Nunavut Inuit living outside of Nunavut and registered in their appropriate providincial or territorial registry. We are excited to announce a Request for Proposals for training programs that will provide Nunavut Inuit with the knowledge and skills necessary to secure meaningful employment. Our organization is committed to empowering Nunavut Inuit by illuminating pathways to economic opportunities. We invite eligible organizations to submit proposals, in accordance with the Makigiaqta’s Quvvariarniq Program Policy. The program has set aside $1 million for one year, allocating up to $250,000 for each eligible organization. Our goal is to foster progress and participation through the magic of learning. About the Career Camps Makigiaqta, and its Partners are working together to host annual Career Camps for Nunavut Inuit youth (Ages 13 to 18) to bring together secondary school students who are interested in pursuing a career in the Health, Finance or Science (STEAM) field. The annual camps will take place in Iqaluit for Health Camps, Rankin Inlet for Finance Camps and Cambridge Bay for STEAM. (Location is subject to hotel and conference room availability) Up to 25 Inuit youth (per camp) in secondary schools in Nunavut will participate in a week-long activities where they will: Discuss career option that are available in NU communities and are accessible to them. Makigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation (MITC) is currently undergoing a strategic planning process to update and confirm our goals and strategic priorities for the upcoming three years. MITC is currently: Reviewing and discussing its vision and mission, along with a review of objectives in each of its program areas Discussing what has worked well during program roll out over recent years and highlighting key achievements. Examining difficulties encountered and what has not worked during program roll out MITC has contracted Sivummut Solutions Ltd (Sivummut) to provide support in this process and gather community feedback.
